We have delivered Jehu back with thank you and are on the Ferry to Stockholm where Janne has invited us to a barbeque to night. Tomorrow we will be looking for a flight home.

I take it that the blurred picture represent their state of mind...(/Juel)

Arrived at Åland!

We are arrived at Åland!. We didn't have much wind but we got to relax and out at sea we lay to and went swimming. After the swim we went mad about cleaning to be able to moor in Åland with good conscience. We are a bit tired but very happy.

Open water

Open water ahead!. We have left Arholma and heading for Ålands sea. Sissels has left us and said goodbye - she have an other sailing trip ahead of her.

Thursday 24 July 2008

Arholma

Arrived at Arholma! We have had a lot of sun but not much wind. We are trying to get a "timeslot" for the sauna but because of the full harbour the outlook is not good. Arholma is were you wait for good the right winds for the crossing to Åland as much as it is basis of Mikael Blomkvists battle against Wennerström.

Last stop before Åland

We are sailing! After a night in the Archipelago with "hygge" and strong Swedish bug repellent we are now heading for Arholma - last stop before Åland.

Moored to the reef

At 20:45 we made a mooring to the reef in cove in the northern Rödlöga. The Archipelago is a fantastic landscape. We are sitting on the rock gazing at Jehu - our home for the last week and a half.

In the Archipelago

We are back in the Archipelago. Plenty of sun but not much wind. We are relaxing and making small repairs.

Wednesday 23 July 2008

Freddy potter about in the back yard.

Freddy pusler og hygger i baghaven., originally uploaded by MoHe.

Everything is just fine here. We are back in the archipelago at Sandhamn and going north to Blidösund where we will try to find a spot for the night and moor on the reef.

Janne signed off this morning. He has showed stamina on the dance floor and he was the last to "hit the berth". He is an excellent sailor and very festive.

The forecast calls for ridge of high pressure in the archipelago. The "holiday kids" cheers but the sailor wants more wind.

12 hours on the sea

Now we are back at main land Sweden after exactly 12 hours at sea! The winds were with us - we are now in the harbour in Sandhamn.

"From the middle watch"

Now we are sailing again! We have been on watch in shifts all night everything has been calm. Today we are going to sail 60 nautical miles over open water back to Sandhamn, mainland Sweden.

Deserted island

We are anchored of a deserted island. We are going to eat lunch before rowing into the island and go swimming and exploring.

Johannes has written some thoughts and description about Jehu. About Jehu - click here

Closing in on Gotska Sandön

We are closing in on Gotska Sandön. Every sail is set and we are relaxing on board.

Sailing again - using the motor.

Now we are sailing again! We have had a couple of nice days on "Lauterhorn" going sightseeing, birthday party, concert, relaxing and swimming.
We are on our way to "Gotska Sandön" using the motor because the weather only promises favourable winds later in the day. "Godska Sandön" is a small island north of "Gotland" where we will anchor up for the night by doing that we are splitting up the trip back to the mainland in two. Spirits are high and everything well onboard.

Sunday 20 July 2008

Tomorrow - Gotska Sandön

Tomorrow morning we are setting of for Gotska Sandön were we will anchor and go sightseeing. It is the first stretch of the trip back to the mainland.

"Happy birthday to you...Sissel"

It is Sissels birthday! She got woken up by birthday song and breakfast with pancakes. Freddy has got his foot nicely dressed up and he is in good spirit. We will be staying here because of the unstable weather. It is better to bee here in bad weather than out at sea near Gotska Sandön.

Last night on Gotland

We have found the finest little place for real outdoor rock! Our last night on Gotland. Tomorrow we are going to Gotska Sandön.

The Dinghy on Jehu.

Jehu has a Dinghy for rowing to shore.

Landed i Lauterhorn

Landed in Lauterhorn. The plans for the afternoon is sightseeing and relaxing. Freddy has twisted his ankle during the harbour manoeuvre.

Change of plans

Change of plans! We are going towards Lauterhorn on Fårö to avoid laying in the narrow sound.

Fårösund

Vis stort kort
Going down thou Fårösund by motor against the wind. All well on board. We are resting and enjoying the beautiful natur.

On the sea again.

Now we are sailing again! Visby is a mix of contrast with people partying and the citys long history. We are going north for motor because of the weather. The sun is high in the sky with clouds over land only and light winds. The days journey is going to Fjaugen a small island on north eastern coast of Gotland.

At the Fishing museum

We have "landed" in Kovik at the Fishing museum of Gotland. They have a collection of old fishing- shacks and boats. Earlier at the day we were on the island Lille Karlsö where we got a guided tour by the local nature guide. Tomorrow we are going to Visby - the "capital" of Gotland.

Phonecall from Skipper Johannes

While the rest of the crew was out sightseeing on Lille Karlsö Johannes and Nelson stayed back and took the anchor watch. He told me about the small repairs they have made - among one thing the "mast-coat". Morten and Theis was set to sew up the old one and impregnate it (that is with grease, oil, fuel - among other things). It was torn and brittle and water was dripping inside.
In the news I heard - the other day - that ladybugs is on the rise in numbers here in Scandinavia. A special vicious malaria kind around Gotland - I understand. Skipper Johannes already has a cure ready when they get to Visby - a special blend of Quinine and vitamin C.
He has great praise for the crew. Everybody is very considerate and choirs is willingly accepted. The food on board is very delirious and plentiful.
They will continue sightseeing around Gotland for a few days before crossing back to the mainland.
Lille Karlsö is an island about 3 kilometres from Gotlands western coast. It is a nature preservative and a bird sanctuary. For more information on Lille Karlsö in Swedish Click here.

Took off...

Took off from Stora Karlsö at 9:30pm to give way for the ferry. Today we are going sightseeing - starting with Lilla Karlsö. Later we will try to get into Kovik - if wind and current permits.

Tuesday 15 July 2008

Fantastic sailing

"Landed" at 5pm on Stora Karlsö (click here for a description of the island). We have again been assigned mooring at the ferry docks - as we take up some space. The ferry departed at five and we lay waiting inside the reef. It has been a fantastic sailing trip across from Øland to Gotland - plenty of sun and vind - the crew were relaxing, made small repairs and were reading. tomorrow we have to depart before the ferry returns at 10pm. The crew consists of: Freddy, Janne (Jan), Theis, Jonas, Sidsel, Nelson, Johannes and Morten.

Here they are:

"Departed from Byxelkrok at 9:30am heading for Stora Karlsö of the coat of Gotland. Scattered clouds and every sail set."

Up early

Morten writes: "We are eating breakfast on deck. The harbour in Byxelkrok was filled yesterday - when we arrived - so we got to "loan" the ferry docks - on the condition that we move before it returns this morning.

I would like to point out that I got this message this morning at about half past seven! /Juel

Royal visit

"Landed" in Byxelkrok on the northern tip of Øland. A Light breeze forced us to start out for motor - got more wind after lunch and set sail. Sailed past The Swedish royal court (at Borgholm) where H.R.H. Crown Princess Victoria celebrated her birthday - we saluted appropriately. Everything well on board - good food is being prepared and relaxing comfortably.

Pictures from Jehu

Last summer I went to Åland and visit, and of course I took some "snaps" of Jehu:

Fra Mit besøg på ...

Had I known that Morten and Johs (with crew) would be sailing Jehu this summer, I probably "scarified myself" and went out into the rain and shot the hole boat. For now you have to satisfy your curiosity with these.

Soon on the way to Åland - again.
